Ali has been practising dental implantology since 2005 and completed a Master's degree in Implant Dentistry at King's College London in 2007. Prior to this he practised as a senior house officer in different NHS oral surgery departments and was a lecturer in oral surgery at King's Dental Institute.

He has lectured at various meetings and MSc courses and has written articles on implant dentistry. He also mentors colleagues wishing to practise implantology.
